Three IEEE Members receive recognition of the Order of Canada

IEEE Canada is honored to announce that three IEEE members/officers have been granted to the Order of Canada.

Dr. Lotfollah Shafai: Distinguished Engineering Professor at the University of Manitoba and Canada Research Chair in Applied Electromagnetics.

Dr. Sara Louise Diamond: President and Vice-Chancellor of OCAD University, and Appointee of the Order of Ontario and the Royal Canadian Society of Arts.

Maurice Brisson: A founding member of BBA with expertise in the design of medium and high-voltage electrification systems, who is also well known for his mentorship of young and aspiring engineers.

IEEE members lost on Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that IEEE has lost five of its members on the Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 crash on January 8th, 2020. These members were two engineering professors Pedram Mousavi and his wife Mojgan Daneshmand, and graduate students Zahra Naghibi, Iman Aghabali, and Mansour Esnaashary Esfahani. On January 28, 2020, IEEE Spectrum published an article dedicated to remembering these beautiful and talented people in our community.
