IEEE Canada members are awarded as Fellows of The Engineering Institute of Canada
The Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC) announced the 2018 recipients of its honours, awards and fellowships. Four IEEE Canada members among twenty engineers have been awarded by EIC's Honours, Awards and Fellowships Committee as EIC Fellows "for their exceptional contributions to engineering in Canada":

Wahab Almuhtadi has been elected as the President-Elect (2018)/President (2019-2020) of The IEEE Consumer Electronics Society (CESoc)

Dr. Almuhtadi is currently also, serving as the Vice President, Education, IEEE Consumer Electronics Society (CESoc), Director of IEEE ComSoc North America Region (2018 - 2019), Chair of Communications and Publications Group - IEEE Canada, Director, IEEE Canadian Foundation (ICF) - Region 7, and the Chair, IEEE ComSoc/CESoc/BTS Ottawa Joint Chapter.
Dr. Almuhtadi is a professor at Algonquin College and Coordinator of Bachelor of Information Technology - Photonics and Laser Technology Program (Algonquin College - Carleton University joint program). Dr. Almuhtadi is also involved in many applied research projects at Algonquin College.
