Call for IEEE Day Ambassadors

Dear IEEE Canada Colleagues,

As you may know, IEEE Day is celebrated worldwide to commemorate the first time in 1884 when engineers gathered to share their technical and scientific ideas. This year's celebrations will be held on October 3, with "Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow" as a theme.

IEEE has opened a Call for IEEE Day Ambassadors, ending July 15, 2017.

So far, we have three IEEE Day Ambassadors in R7: two individuals from the Montreal Section (Mohammad Taufiquzzamtn and Akashdeep Chauhann) and one from the Winnipeg Section (Dario Schor). We should have more.

It is a great opportunity to bring more awareness about IEEE to our universities, colleges, high schools, companies, organizations, military, government, and the general public.

IEEE Canada President-Elect 2018 Candidates

Two of accomplished IEEE Canada volunteers, Jason GU and Adam SKOREK, have been selected as candidates for IEEE Canada President-Elect and IEEE Region 7 Delegate/Director-Elect.

The Candidates presented their position statements at the Spring Board Meeting in Windsor on April 30, 2017. Candidates' profiles and statements will be published in a future issue. The IEEE annual election will start on August 15, 2017.

Membership Dues in Special Circumstances

IEEE realizes that economic circumstances may impact some members' ability to pay the full amount of IEEE membership dues. For this reason, the following special circumstance categories have been established. Special circumstances are not available to Student members. Only one category may be claimed in any year.

-  Unemployed Provision
-  Permanently Disabled
