Special Grant Report

In 2016, the IEEE Canadian Foundation provided a Special Grant to IEEE Student Branch at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) for their Automated Submarine Competition project. The students engaged in building an Automated Submarine for the robosub competition. Their project involved building the whole mechanical part of the submarine, the electronic components for the power supply, the motor control, the camera and the hydrophones. They have most of those subsystems working and are aiming to finalize the rest in the near future. They are planning to have a working submarine before the summer in order to enter the competition. In addition to learning a lot about electronic, mechanical and software engineering, the team members have learned how to work as a team on this exciting project.
