UOIT plays host to IEEE SEGE conference

IEEE SEGE was held at UOIT with more than 80 papers from around 18 countries and participants from academia and industries. There were invited talks by scholars who presented latest research and technologies in the area of smart energy grids. The SEGE conference was organized in number of specialized sessions to cover focus areas within smart energy grid such as transmission / distribution lines, micro energy grids, energy storage, transportation electrification, information and communications, and safety and security.

Also the conference welcomed papers and speakers from number of Canadian universities.

The participants showed high interest at UOIT campus and facilities, and in particular their great interests during the ACE tour.

Hydro One has kindly contributed to support SEGE event and sponsored the best paper awards, which were judged by independent referees from academia and industries who reviewed all papers and presentations and selected the top regular and student papers who are awarded during the closing ceremony of the conference.

All attendees showed high interest in the conference program and organization, invited speakers, presented papers, UOIT facilities, and Ontario great weather during the conference, and promised to visit us in the next year's SEGE 2017 event.

The UOIT research team of smart energy grid engineering showed competitive performance and has been recognized and ranked high among regular and student papers, and successfully won three best paper awards: two regular papers and one student paper, as follows:
