Success Stories of Sections, Groups, and IEEE Volunteers
Women Professional Development and Networking Night
The Women Professional Development and Networking Night was successfully organized in Calgary on Sep 13. The event had an incredible turnout of about 50 online and in-person attendees. The evening kicked off with a career panel featuring inspiring talks by Dr. Maryam Elahi, Dr. Raoufeh Hashemian, and entrepreneur Bukky Wonda, each sharing their unique career paths in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Dawson's “Networking for Introverts” mini-workshop was a standout, offering valuable tips on personal branding and goal setting. Attendees enjoyed connecting with industry professionals and students, fostering a vibrant and supportive community.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the event by their attendance, and also those who volunteered at the event. Thanks to the IEEE Women in Engineering, and IEEE Canada Women in Engineering, and IEEE Southern Alberta for supporting and sponsoring the event, and to the local organizers, Dr. Leanne Dawson and Dr. Yasaman Amannejad, the chairs for Women in Engineering and Computer Chapter of IEEE Southern Alberta Section.
