Make Sure Your Section's Voice is Heard: Register for Sections Congress
The goals of Sections Congress are three: leadership training; networking; and guiding the future of the Institute through the development and prioritization of recommendations for action.
Your Section's ideas cannot be brought forward if your leadership is not there! For example, in response to recommendations from Sections Congress 2002, IEEE has made measurable improvements in the quality of email addresses maintained as part of a members' primary record and has enabled Section volunteers to easily query, view and download member data through the web based SAMIEEE tool.
Register your Section's primary delegate by visiting www.ieee.org/sc2005 and then click on the links to register for Sections Congress, and to make hotel reservations. You can also find on the SC2005 web page links to visa and travel information, and a registration guide which provides details about the event. The deadline for Congress registration and hotel reservations is 12 September 2005.
If you have any questions, please contact sc-coordinator@ieee.org.

Student Branch News
New Section to the Newsletter
After a request from a couple of Student Branches I have added a section for news from the different Student Branches within Region 7. If you have a special event that you would like to announce or a member that you would like to recognize send it to the editor, the information can be found at the bottom of this page.
Profile of Concordia University Student Branch
Concordia University in Montreal, Canada hosts a cosmopolitan student body and inspires students to seek practical applications for theories presented on a blackboard. Concordia's IEEE student branch reflects these qualities in a multitude of ways. In addition to the various ethnic backgrounds of its members, IEEE's electronics projects and social events have attracted student participation from Arts and Commerce faculties and just about anyone else with a natural curiosity for how things work. This year, the IEEE Concordia branch hosted 10 projects, a company tour, a conference on Image Processing given by Matrox Imaging, 2 lounge nights at the campus bar, and a formal dinner that brought together students, faculty members, and industry representatives. For these activities, the university has awarded the IEEE with a prize for "Most Improved Society during 2004-2005". With an even more active 2005-2006 year planned for the branch, the IEEE at Concordia and it's team of hard-working executives shows no signs of slowing down and will continue to provide an excellent service to students at the university.
