![]() News of InterestIEEE Foundation announces new awardsAt its November meeting, the IEEE Foundation Board of Directors voted to approve over US$65,000 in new grants. These grants will help students refine their interest in science and engineering; re-establish teaching, computing, and laboratory facilities at a university devastated by an earthquake; and provide learning materials to the future leaders of the IEEE. Projects that will improve math, science and technology education, recognize and celebrate engineering achievements or preserve and promote the history of electrical and information technologies may be eligible to receive a grant from the IEEE Foundation. The 2002 deadlines for proposal submission are 14 January, 25 April and 30 September. For more information on the IEEE Foundation, visit http://www.ieee.org/organizations/foundation/html/about.html. IEEE offers credit cards in US, Canada, UK and Puerto RicoThrough the IEEE Financial Advantage Program, IEEE members in a growing number of countries can apply for the IEEE credit card. Each credit card offers a competitive interest rate and no annual fee. Find out more, or apply online at http://www.ieee.org/services/financial/fap/programs/financial_services/allcards.html. Papers will now be edited, and proofs will be provided to authors for approval. Under previous guidelines, manuscripts were formatted and published without further review by the author. In addition, starting 7 January 2002, authors who previously submitted articles by mail will be able to do so in PDF format via the Web. For more detail on these new policies go to http://www.ieee.org/organizations/society/power/subpages/authors-folder/autoupload.htm.
