2000 IEEE Annual Election 

On 1 Sep., election ballots were mailed to all IEEE voting members in Regions 1-10, who are of member grade and higher.

Last year 218 ballots were received unsigned before the due date and 45 ballots were received 1-3 days following the deadline. None of these ballots were eligible to be counted in the selection of Institute officers. And, none of these ballots were eligible to win the prize, either. Avoid being late or ineligible. We urge you to:

  • Sign your ballot in the appropriate area.
  • Use the pre-addressed, postage paid envelope provided.
  • Allow ample delivery time for your signed ballot to arrive at our election vendor by 12:00 p.m. EST, 1 November 2000.
  • Take advantage of your right to vote!
  • Be eligible to win that Palm Pilot!

CALL FOR IEEE RAB AWARDS

The Regional Activities Board Awards and Recognition Committee (RABARC) is currently soliciting nominees for:

  1. RAB Achievement Award
  2. RAB Innovation Award
  3. RAB Larry K. Wilson  Transnational Award
  4. RAB Leadership Award
  5. GOLD Awards

These awards, the most prestigious RAB has to offer, are designed to recognize outstanding efforts by IEEE volunteers. These are NOT technical achievement awards. The deadline for the submission of nominations is 15 October 2000.

Criteria

The RAB Achievement Award recognizes individuals involved with RAB and/or the Regional Network who are recognized for singular achievement in the development and completion of a project(s) or activity(ies) which are directed to the fulfillment of one or more of the goals and objectives of RAB. This award is designed to recognize those substantive projects or achievements of a relatively short nature (one to three years) but which have left an undeniable imprint on the fabric of Regional Operations.

The RAB Innovation Award recognizes the accomplishment judged to be the most innovative and effective in fulfilling one or more of the goals and objectives of RAB and/or personal goals of the Vice President for Regional Activities.

The RAB Larry K. Wilson Transnational Award recognizes the accomplishment judged to be the most significant and effective in fulfilling one or more of the Transnational goals and objectives of RAB and/or personal goals of the Vice President for Regional Activities as related to Transnational Activities.

The RAB Leadership Award recognizes individuals who have exhibited exemplary and substantive leadership of an extraordinary nature in implementing activities which support RAB goals and objectives at the local, regional, national, and/or international level.

GOLD Awards

The Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Awards recognize outstanding achievements of GOLD Committees at the Section, Society and Region levels. The following are the RAB GOLD Awards:

Invitation to submit Proposals for Year 2001

All Region 7 members/entities are invited to submit proposals for projects to be carried out in the year 2001. Proposals for projects that can be completed by Dec. 31, 2000 will also be considered in adition to those for the year 2001.

The proposals should be submitted by October 18, 2000 to Om Malik, Secretary, IEEE Canada with a copy to Cathie Lowell by e-mail at the following address:

Projects are to be submitted according to the template format given below. Each project should be submitted separately. The ranking criteria according to which all projects will be ranked and the membership of the ranking committee are also given below.
